Mother’s Day is just over a week away and whilst we might not be able to necessarily spend the day with our mothers and mother-figures, we can still say thank you from afar. If you’re in need of some inspiration, here is our guide to Mother’s Day gifts.

Bring the Restaurants to You

You might not be able to get to the restaurants quite yet but that doesn’t mean that you can’t bring the restaurant to you. London’s restaurants are, as ever, stepping up to the mark and have created special Mother’s Day Menus that can be delivered straight to your door. We have our eye on Jamavar’s two limited-edition Mother’s Day menus designed for feasting - something we can always get on board with. Dishes include Shahi Gosht Ki Nihari, Kumarakom Fish Curry and Tandoori Malai Gucchi. Or if you fancy cooking at home then Hame by Adam Handling has a set Mother’s Day menu which you can cook at home, (don’t worry it comes semi-prepared). Start with sourdough, with a jar of chicken butter before dishes such as Lobster Wagyu and Tarte Tatin. Not able to be with your loved ones this year? Then why not send them a hamper? Fortnum and Mason’s Mother’s Day VIP (Very Important Parent) Hamper includes the likes of Violet Biscuits, Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Florentines, Fortnum’s Salted Caramel Ruby Truffles and Victoria Grey Loose Leaf tea - that should score you some brownie points.

Say It With Flowers

Wanting to send flowers? Two of our favourite florists, Nikki Tibbles Wild at Heart and Bloom & Wild both have a beautiful collection of Mother’s Day inspired flowers which can be delivered nationwide. If you’re looking to add a little extra then Bloom & Wild also offer additional gifts to accompany the flowers such as Prestat Chocolates, Cowshed hand cream and Champagne truffles.

The Finest Chocolates

London’s finest chocolatier, Maison Samadi, has created a collection of Mother’s Day chocolates, guaranteed to get you in the good books. The collection includes assorted cocoa dusted chocolate truffles and praline chocolate hearts, petit gateau and luxury hampers filled with chocolates, biscuits, truffles and pate de fruit.

Mix It Up

Whether you fancy mixing up a cocktail or three to raise or a toast or your mother has become an aspiring bartender over lockdown, the Pink Pepper Gin from Audemus Spirits is bound to be a hit. Available exclusively at Fortnum’s the gin has fresher, spicy botanicals of pink pepper, juniper and cardamom which are followed by sweeter notes of vanilla, honey and tonka. What’s particularly nifty though is that through origami, the box is transformed into a cocktail book which showcases six bespoke drinks. In the mood for something a little stronger? Mr Black’s Espresso Martini Kit comes with everything you need to make the ultimate Espresso Martini, including a cocktail shaker and the best coffee liqueur.

And...Relax

After almost a year of lockdown, Jill Murphy’s book, Five Minute’s Peace seems even more applicable. We’re loving these gifts for an extra little relaxation. For those looking for a calm and restorative night’s sleep or just an extra cosy duvet day, there’s the award-winning Mela Weighted Blanket, which helps to foster a sense of peace and stop your mind racing at night. Socks might get seen as an unimaginative present, we certainly think not, especially if they’re the wonderfully soft cashmere bed socks from The White Company - we'll be buying a pair for ourselves at the same time. Launched in 2018, Verdant Alchemy is a South East London based bath and body brand which is completely vegan and natural. Their Breath In bath salts are infused with eucalyptus, lemon and bergamot to help soothe your mind and as the name suggests, take a deep breath. Neom’s range, The Scent to Calm & Relax, has been specially formulated to help you relax and unwind, something we could all do with right now. The Complete Bliss three-wick candle is a blend of 17 essential oils including Moroccon blush rose, lime and black pepper.

Worth Every Scent

Irene Forte Skincare has curated a selection of Mother’s Day gifts which includes White Wine Body Cream, Rose Face Oil and Rose Body Oil. Made with ingredients grown at the brand’s organic farm in Sicily, each bottle is a little dose of daily luxury. Plus they are currently offering 20% off for Mother’s Day with the code IFMOTHER. Want to buy a different fragrance but not sure what to choose? Head to Penhaligon’s where you can either buy the Ladies’ Fragrance Collection, which includes five fragrances to suit every mood, or answer a few questions and they will find you the perfect match. Aēsop’s Nurturer gift is curated especially for mothers, caregivers and nurturers and includes fragrant hand balm, body cleanser and a nourishing lip salve.
