Hatchards is officially London’s oldest bookshop. Established in 1797 by a Mr John Hatchard, the bookshop is a landmark on Piccadilly, itself one of the most famous streets in the world. Spink & Son | Auction House
A Mr John Spink founded a goldsmiths and pawnbrokers near Lombard Street in the time of King Charles II. Over the years, the firm gravitated towards selling jewelry and coins, and began to deal in oriental art in the 1850s.
