Saatchi Gallery | Contemporary Art

Listique’s Recommendation

All art galleries can be placed into two categories which roughly correlate with their artistic merit: forgettable and unforgettable. We have always found Saatchi Gallery to belong firmly in the latter. Sound, lighting, scents and visuals combine to create an intoxicating experience at Saatchi Gallery exhibitions. We are certain that time and space operate by a different set of rules when inside the gallery’s walls. The synchronised flow of music and lighting perfectly complements the different moods as you move between the rooms. Then comes the art - Saatchi is renowned for exhibiting the most brilliant minds in art and we have frequently been astounded.

About Saatchi Gallery | Contemporary Art

Saatchi Gallery was opened in 1985 by advertising guru Charles Saatchi, one half of Saatchi & Saatchi, as a place to exhibit his large art collection to the public. Previously in North London and then on the South Bank, the gallery has finally found its home in a spectacular 70,000 sq. ft exhibition space in Duke of York Square, Chelsea. The current gallery is an architectural masterpiece whose antiquity contrasts the cutting-edge art inside. The exhibitions focus on young artists and international artists, sometimes bringing less well-known artists firmly into the spotlights of the art world. In fact, Saatchi and his gallery were pivotal in shaping the early careers of Damian Hirst and Tracey Emin. As well as temporary exhibitions of innovative artwork, the gallery also hosts events, a book shop and a cafe. The gallery is ideal for those ready to be impressed by innovative and passionate pieces of art.
