Founded by Jillian Lavender and Michael Miller (they trained under Thom Knoles who trained as a teacher of Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi), the London Meditation Centre teaches Vedic Meditation through a four-day group course following a free introductory talk.
Coming from Veda, the ancient body of knowledge from India, Vedic meditation is effortless and natural and focuses on learning a mantra that helps to settle your mind. It’s not religious, it doesn’t involve you changing your lifestyle habits or discussing your inner thoughts. All you need is a comfy chair and to close your eyes.
You should start to see benefits straight away and these include reducing stress and anxiety, feeling more focused and thinking clearly, more energy and better sleep, improved relationships and a general sense of feeling more healthy. And once you have completed the introductory talk and the course (which can be group or private) you receive plenty of support with a Meditator’s Map support programme, weekly email and you can then attend free group meditation sessions in person or online to continue your meditation journey throughout your life.
