John Bell & Croyden | Pharmacists to the Queen

Holding the Royal Warrant as pharmacists to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll, John Bell & Croyden, can trace their history back to 1798 when John Bell opened the original pharmacy on Oxford Street. John Bell and his son Jacob both played an important part in the founding of pharmacy as a profession in the UK with Jacob founding the Pharmaceutical Society in 1841 and The Pharmaceutical Journal. In 1909 they were granted their Royal Warrant on behalf of King George V and held The Royal Warrant to Her Majesty The Queen Mother until her passing in 2002. The pharmacy has maintained its royal connection, not only being the pharmacists to the Queen but also holding the secret recipe to, and a sample of, the famous anointing oil used when a new sovereign is crowned. Now located on Wigmore Street (and falling under the McKesson umbrella), the pharmacy continues to be committed to the wellbeing of London.
