Ham Polo Club, Petersham Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 7AH
Set in idyllic Richmond-Upon-Thames and overlooked by Ham House, is a polo club with a rich history. The club was first known as Ham Common Polo Club when it was established in 1926 and is one of the oldest and last surviving London polo clubs that existed as satellites to London’s ‘Big Three’ clubs: Hurlingham, Roehampton and Ranelagh. In 1950, the field adjacent to Ham House was used for matches, until 1954 when George Stevens, the Dysart families tenant at Ham House Farm decided that the Ham House orchard was to be the club’s new home. The club is currently managed by Will Healy, and plays polo between the months of May and September. The club’s current facilities include three polo fields, an exercise track, a stick and ball field, a livery service, a coaching and a members clubhouse and a restaurant and bar.
