The world’s oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament, known for its grass courts, strawberries & cream, and royal patronage.
Overview: Two weeks of top-tier tennis culminating in the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Finals on the final weekend (12–13 July 2025). Off-court, it’s a social scene where VIP guests frequent the Royal Box and Debenture lounges.
Tickets: Public ballot tickets (applied for the prior year) are one route. Many luxury attendees secure Debenture tickets – these are the only legally transferable tickets, often sold via brokers or hospitality providers. Prices for prime finals Debentures can run into the thousands. Hospitality packages (through Keith Prowse or similar) offer debenture seating plus fine dining in on-site lounges.
Travel Tips: Southfields or Wimbledon Station on the District Line, then a shuttle or 15-minute walk. Many opt for car services to avoid crowded public transport, but note road restrictions near the club. If you have a driver, allow extra time as traffic in SW19 is heavy.
Dress Code: There’s no official spectator dress code, but most treat it as a smart summer occasion. Expect to see linen suits, blazers, summer dresses, and the occasional hat in the Royal Box. (Players, of course, adhere to strict all-white attire on court.) For attendees, smart casual is safest, and bring layers – morning can be warm but evenings cool.
Insider Tip: The first week is great for seeing many matches on outside courts; the second week is when the marquee matches happen on Centre Court. For a luxury experience, secure a table for lunch at the Wingfield Restaurant or tea at the Members’ Enclosure (if you have access) – you might dine next to past champions. Don’t forget to enjoy the Wimbledon traditions: a Pimm’s Cup and strawberries & cream (around £2.50 a portion) as you watch tennis on Henman Hill (Murray Mound).
