This prestigious four-day jump racing festival is a cornerstone of the British sporting calendar. Each day has its highlight (Champion Hurdle on Day 1, Ladies’ Day on Day 2, St. Patrick’s Thursday, and the Gold Cup on the final day). The atmosphere is electric with over 250,000 attendees across the week.
Tickets: Tiered tickets include Best Mate enclosure (from ~£40) up to Club enclosure and hospitality packages. Elite hospitality offers gourmet dining, private boxes, and celebrity tipsters. Travel Tips: Cheltenham Spa rail station has special shuttle buses during Festival week. It’s about 2 hours by train from London. If driving, pre-book parking (traffic is heavy). Many opt to stay in the Cotswolds nearby. Dress Code: Smart attire is encouraged (tweeds and hats are popular), though there’s no strict code. Ladies often wear chic country fashion – and remember a warm coat!
Insider Tip: Thursday (St. Patrick’s) brings an especially celebratory Irish crowd. Gold Cup Day (Friday) sells out early – book grandstand seats by the previous autumn. For a more luxurious experience, the panoramic Restaurant overlooking the finish line offers fine dining with a view (reserve far in advance).
