Fitzrovia occupies the territory between the West End's commerce and Bloomsbury's academia, creating a neighbourhood with a distinctly creative character. Charlotte Street — the area's main artery — is one of London's great restaurant streets, with cuisines spanning from Roka's Japanese to Pied à Terre's French fine dining.

The neighbourhood has long attracted media and advertising — the BBC's Broadcasting House anchors the western edge, while production companies and design studios fill the Georgian townhouses throughout. The Fitzroy Tavern, which gave the area its name, still serves as an informal meeting point.
